About

Jen Msumba’s art brings both smiles and tears to audiences when unpacking difficult emotions or topics, like growing up with autism and OCD, and being institutionalized since age fifteen. But you can leave it to Jen to find a shine of hope in every situation.

What weaves her work together is story. Jen is a writer at the heart of it all. whether it is lyrics to an original song, or a feature film script, she knows how to make people feel something. And even though everyone’s story is different, audiences can find relatability in her words.

Jen is a member of American MENSA, a Sundance Institue Fellow, and won Best Film at the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge with her short, The Fish Don’t Care When It Rains. She even found herself in Variety magazine for that honor, which she is now turning into a feature film from her quiet cabin in the Florida country, where she lives with her dog Lemonade.
